 Easter
Easter, also known as Pascha (Greek ??s?a: Passover), the Feast of the Resurrection, the Sunday of the Resurrection, or Resurrection Day, is the most important religious feast of the Christian liturgical year, observed between late March and late April (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity). Easter celebrates Jesus rising from the dead. Jesus lived a perfect life, and then died a horrible death in order to take the sin of all mankind upon him. The Bible says that, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus."It celebrates rising from the dead, by the power of God. When Jesus rose from the dead he conquered sin, death, and the grave, setting all of mankind free from the bondage of sin if we only accept His free gift of life. His resserection occurred after his death by crucifixion in AD 27-33 (see Good Friday). In the Roman Catholic Church, Easter is actually an eight-day feast called the Octave of Easter.
Easter also refers to the season of the church year, lasting for fifty days, from Easter Sunday through Pentecost. (see Easter Season)
